Market at the Palms in Woodstock, Cape Town

Posted by Ming-Cheau Lin on 24 February 2012

Last Saturday, a new market started in Woodstock, Cape Town. The Palms Market is a bi-monthly market that brings us the freshest of foods from the platteland. I received an email from Social Plus One, inviting me to the opening, and of course, I’m always keen to check out a local market. Even though The Palms Market has just started, there’s a certain appeal and it offers a covered parking area, as well as the indoor and outdoor set up option.

During the market, a lady by the name of Christine showed us all a demonstration on smoked snoek, one of Cape Town’s favourite fish. She only uses seasonal produce straight from the platteland and for the demo, she showed the crowd how to make West Coast smoked snoek, a quick smoked snoek terrine, smoked snoek fish cakes, smoked snoek pie, smoked snoek samoosas and chive pancakes with a smoked snoek and peppadew filling. Absolutely delicious!
