Video: whale, hello there kayakers
Watch as these Argentinian kayakers, expecting to have a whale of a time, narrowly escape being tipped by a gargantuan beast of the deep.
Coming too close to the whales, the paddlers see one animal manoeuvre gracefully under the kayak and with the precise dexterity of watchmaker, lift the boat slightly out of the water. The water is calm enough to see the pod of whales rolling around in the water close to the shore.
Know what kind of whales these are? Let us know. Also, keep in mind that getting this close to whales is a very bad (and quite illegal) idea. In South Africa, the legal limit is 300m for any vessel without a permit.
