If you live in Cape Town, chances are you may have noticed the wind is back. You may have noticed it trying to change your lane for you on the way to work this morning. It’s not nice. It’s a hooligan of an element that turns umbrellas into javelins, toupees into UFOs and pedestrians into Edmund Hillary lookalikes (strained forward at 45° with a look of ragged determination in their eye). It does, however, signify that summer is finally here, and cause for cheer.
Having said that, most (save for kiteboarders I guess) will agree that a windy day can cause all sorts of drama, and not just of the sartorial kind. For instance, I found this little clip of some ducklings who were innocently trying to cross an open lot with their mom when the wind decided to get involved. All the ducks made it alright, but you’re still going to feel like an awful person for laughing at them.
Keep safe out there … and hello summer!
