I headed up Table Mountain yesterday, that beautiful flat-top beacon we’ve neglected since the newspaper headlines of muggings to watch a Ducati motorbike be handed over to the winner of the SanDisk- Ducati competition.
You had to buy a flash drive from SanDisk and would then stand a chance to win a Ducati bike! I’m not into bikes but jeez, if I’d had entered I could have sold that for a couple ronds!
IT was another hot day in a string of sauna days up top but free drinks helped cool us down.
Part of the reason for presenting the bike to the winner on Table Mountain was to promote the Mother City landmark and encourage people to vote for it as a nominee to win a space as one of the New 7Wonders (http://www.new7wonders.com/). Regards safety: I saw more police up there than I do in my home suburb not making sure the bike was safe, but patrolling the table top from left to right to help make sure the news headlines diminish and that locals and tourists can enjoy the beauty of this world wonder.
