From 8-13 April, Rand Show 2020 honours South Africa’s proud culinary tradition as it hosts the delectable SA Bakers’ Association Cake Competition and the JacarandaFM Clash of Kitchens at the new-look Rand Show 2020 Foodie Zone.
The Foodie Zone will be home to a feast of flavour discoveries, from craft beer and gin, to delicious farm-fresh fare at the Farmers’ Market.
The JacarandaFM Clash of Kitchens is a high-stakes reality cooking show that will see teams of two bring their fabulous foodie flair to life as they battle it out for their share of R150 000 in cash and prizes.
Entries for the SA Bakers’ Association Cake Competition are open to all ages who are passionate about creating their own baked works of art and feel that they have what it takes to compete for their share of R18 000 in prize money.
Here are the rules:
Your cake’s design must include Rand Show 2020’s six new zones and the new Rand Show logo. Find more information at https://randshow.co.za/foodie-zone/
The cake base must be no bigger than 600mm x 600mm
The height of the cake must not exceed 500mm
No chilled ingredients may be used (fresh cream etc.) as the cake must be ambient
Every single ingredient on the cake must be edible, barring one exception: You may use Food-Grade approved toothpicks to attach edible decorations
All entries must be in no later than 25 March, 2020.
The master bakers from the SA Bakers’ Association will be on-hand to manage and judge the competition, and will also be hosting the Bakers’ Corner alongside Wooden Spoon from Willowton’s Group, featuring baking workshops for all ages to discover.
All bakers competing in the SA Bakers’ Association Cake Competition will be invited to display their masterpieces in the Foodie Zone on Saturday, 11 April 2020 at 9am. Judging will take place at 1pm.

Standard Day Pass:
R 150 at the door.
R 130 online (Price valid only until 31 March 2020. After 31 March, R 150).
Kids Day Pass:
R 80 at the door.
R 70 online (Price valid only until 31 March 2020. After 31 March, R 80).
Kids under 6 enter for free.
Pensioners Day Pass:
R 80 at the door.
R 70 online (Price valid only until 31 March 2020. After 31 March, R 80).
Family Pass:
R 460 at the door.
R 400 online (Price valid only until 31 March 2020. After 31 March, R 460).
Standard Four Day Pass
These tickets are only available online and will remain at the same price for the duration of the show.
