Cape hotels ranked as world’s best

Posted by Imogen Searra on 28 February 2020

Time and time again the Mother City is recognised for its beauty. Travel + Leisure recently announced two Cape Town hotels on its annual world’s best new hotels’ list. In a statement, Travel + Leisure said: ‘This year, our guide to the essential openings (and reopenings) of the past year took us to 32 countries in pursuit of the unforgettable.

Camissa House, Cape Town

In the neighbourhood of Oranjezicht, you’ll find this tranquil 8-room boutique hotel. It’s no surprise this hotel landed a place on the ‘It List’. With Table Mountain as a backdrop and sweeping views of the city, this idyllic hotel is every bit luxurious as it is beautiful. With pops of colour throughout, an ode to the Cape Floral Kingdom and an array of delectable eats and thirst-quenching drinks, Camissa House embodies all things Cape Town. It’s proximity to the bustling V&A Waterfront, Camps Bay and Clifton beaches and the bustling City Bowl makes it a firm favourite with travellers. Guests will be made to feel at home with access to facilities like a reading and TV room, a glass atrium, a rooftop bar and many more nooks and crannies.

Lekkerwater Beach Lodge, De Hoop, South Africa

Natural Selection’s Lekkerwater Beach Lodge at De Hoop, in De Hoop Nature Reserve is seaside paradise. This solar-powered beach lodge has seven cabins situated under 250 metres from the ocean. Not only do us humans love this spot but between June and October, hundreds of southern right whales swim into the shallows to calve. De Hoop is a marine protected area and so there is an abundance of oceanic animals that frequent these waters. Guests spend their days either relaxing in a wood-fired hot tub, swimming in the sea or dipping in pool, exploring the many rockpools or they can have a braai on the beach. It’s no wonder this incredible destination was ranked among the world’s best.

WHERE THE MOUNTAINS MEET THE SEA 🌊 A mere three (and a bit) hour drive from Cape Town, in the eastern, most exclusive sector of De Hoop Nature Reserve, is Lekkerwater Beach Lodge at De Hoop. • Undoubtedly one of the most glorious coastal reserves in Africa, the area’s extraordinary beauty and blissful seclusion led ex-President FW de Klerk to choose the location for his ‘Camp David.’ The reserve is also famous for some of the best whale watching on the planet when, from July to November, Southern Right whales and their offspring flock here in their hundreds from Antarctica. • It’s not simply whales here either, and you’ll also spot sizeable pods of dolphin and all sorts of marine life in this, the ultimate, land-based marine safari. • WHY BOOK THIS CAMP? Journey through time in one of the most historic and scenically beautiful locations on the African continent. • Learn about the marine life, fynbos and pristine environment of the unusual reserve. • Eat dinner on the beach with the sand between your toes and the region’s finest wines on the table. There certainly aren’t many places to enjoy this in South Africa… • Experience some of the world’s best land-based whale watching straight from your bedroom. • Enjoy staying in a cosy and intimate lodge. Here, you will arrive as strangers and depart as friends. 🌊 @naturalselection #lekkerwaterbeachlodge #travel #travelafrica #naturelovers #dehoopnaturereserve #whalewatching #whale #beach #southernrightwhales #animals #food #luxurytravel #luxury #nature #southafricatravel #africa #picoftheday #photooftheday #instagood #instalove #love #instalike #sea #southafrica #overberg #likeforlikes #like4likes #ocean #tbt #naturephotography
