People travel with electronic devices more and more – GPS, cellphone, tablet, camera – and everything needs juice to work. The Powermonkey Explorer is just the guy for the job.
What is it?

The Powermonkey Explorer is a small and lightweight portable charger that will fire up your gadgets when no electricity outlet is available. It’s a wonderful travel companion and can be powered up in three different ways – solar power, USB port on your computer or plugged into the mains.
Charge up the bullet-shaped Powermonkey and keep it in your backpack, handbag or travel luggage to use when your GPS dies or your smart phone goes flat.
The universal portable charger comes with 11 adaptor clips and charges up quickly – leave the solar panel for a full day in sunlight and it’s ready to go.
Compact and tough
It’s compact, tough, powerful, picks up on sunlight quickly and is extremely easy to use. The LED indicators tell you how much power is left and all the buttons are straightforward.
The green light indicates the solar panel is picking up sunlight
It is compatible with Apple products and you can attach the solar panel to a rucksack, hang from a window or leave it on your car to charge it on the go.
It’s a really good piece of kit, especially if you’re hiking or in a remote location. It’s also water resistant and covered in a rubberised casing.
There really is little to complain about – I’m not sure about it’s longevity, but time will tell.
For now, it’s living in my travel kit.
