I made it. Another year of Walking the Daisies under the belt. All this after I swore I’d never do it again after being so unprepared for Walking the Daisies 2011. This time, however, I had my beans a little more together and although it was still tough, it was definitely one of the coolest things I’ve done all year.
Covering a total of 60 kilometres, 55 of them bipedally (there was a short stretch where we had to shuttle past the Koeberg power station) the route starts in Blouberg and finishes at Cloof Wine Estate just outside Darling for Rocking the Daisies 2012 (read why Rocking the Daisies 2012 rocked). It’s adventurous, yes, but it’s more than just that. It’s the opportunity to join in the action for a good cause. This year we took on a beach clean up organised by Ocean Minded as well as planting trees at Mamre Primary School with Greenpop, not to mention arriving at Rocking the Daisies with minimal carbon footprint (and a few blisters). We’ll see …
