Visitors to the Cape Winelands towns are now able to download a free application for their smart phones that put a complete guide to the towns in the palm of their hand.
Robertson Wine Valley, by Tyson Jopson.
Download the apps and you’re set to explore a thousand things to do and then some more in the Cape Winelands. Cape Winelands District Municipality (CWDM) funded the development of these official mobile apps for the thirteen Local Tourism Associations (LTAs) within the Cape Winelands region.
Each app enables the user to gain access to personalised information regarding local events, establishments, attractions and tourism activities for a specific area. Making travelling to the Cape Winelands smoother and more fun.
The thirteen LTAs consist of:
1. Stellenbosch 360
2. Franschhoek Wine Valley
3. Dwarsriver Tourism
4. Drakenstein LTA Paarl
5. Drakenstein LTA Wellington
6. Worcester Tourism
7. Breedekloof Wine & Tourism
8. Wolseley Tourism
9. Tulbagh Wine & Tourism
10. Ceres Tourism
11. Robertson Tourism
12. McGregor Tourism
13. Montagu-Ashton Tourism
Search for the LTA name on the Google Play Store or iTunes and you will find the app.
This visitor and tourist-friendly app is available for both iOS and Android and is more than just a map; it has the look and feel of a social media app that includes live newsfeeds and updates. The app features key tabs on the main page that link users to valuable information about the town, including news about the latest happenings; an advanced GPS system that provides detailed navigation on its map function, which also contains subcategories of things to do, places to eat and where to stay, and a calendar of events.
Mobile users will be able to access this information at a much faster rate while they are on the go. Tourists will be able to check-in, post photos and follow their favourite wineries, establishments, etc. But best of all, the apps give access to the smallest businesses that may not have been discovered by visitors in the past, creating some smart enterprise development around tourism.
