Photoblog: Rocking the Daisies 2013 Posted by Teagan Cunniffe on 8 October 2013 Tags:Cape Town, South Africa Festivals have got to be one of my favourite things to photograph. There is just so much atmosphere, the people are all open and friendly and the music and lights make the events a stream of photographic opportunities (read: why Rocking the Daisies 2012 rocked). This year I decided to go to Rocking the Daisies in Cape Town with a group of friends, and I couldn’t miss the chance to take a few images while I was there. I took my camera and a 50mm, the simplest setup I could think of that would still get me good results (I hoped). It was such an amazing festival. The music was great, with Alt-J and the Hives headlining on Saturday evening. Alt-J sounded exactly like their album portrayed which was fantastic, but the pushy crowd killed the mood for me and I seriously considered pouring my drink down a few of my particularly annoying neighbours’ backs. The Hives brought with them first-class entertainment with lead singer Howlin’ Pelle Almqvis captivating the crowd with his frenetic energy and showmanship. The three days blurred into one and time flew past, leaving us rather shell-shocked by how quickly Sunday arrived! I would love to go back again, next time armed with a media pass and my 70-200mm lens. (Check out this guide to South Africa’s best music festivals in the meanwhile.)
