Video: caracal (rooikat) spotted on Table Mountain
Posted on 12 September 2013
Spotting a caracal (rooikat) anywhere in the wild is rare. Like leopards, they keep to themselves and avoid humans as much as they can. But sometimes, just sometimes, they’ll let you catch a glimpse of them. Robert Obree was incredibly lucky to spot this caracal yesterday morning at 08h00 on a pre-work ride up to the Block House on Table Mountain and shared this video. It’s not the greatest quality video, but still a cool sighting.
Video tip: if you find yourself on the cusp of shooting a great video with your phone, turn your device sideways and move as little as possible.
