Rhino Post Safari Lodge: An eco-friendly Kruger escape

Posted by Imogen Searra on 3 March 2020

Rhino Post Safari Lodge, situated in the Kruger National Park, is an eco-friendly oasis with access to the Big 5, smaller mammals, birds, reptiles, incredible insects and a variety of plant life.

The lodge has been designed to leave as little impact on its surroundings as possible. Using wood, thatch, stone and canvas, the lodge can be easily broken down and the land would be able to restore itself to its original state if need be.

The lodge’s recycling-management plan and an indigenous reedbed system that processes bathroom water helps support its sustainability practices.

The lodge has also recently joined the Spekboom Challenge, to offset carbon emissions created by the camp.

Rhino Post Safari Lodge has eight suites, all equipped with an en-suite bathroom, an outdoor shower, a deck overlooking the nearby riverbed and all the creature comforts of home.

The ambience here is of nature at its best.  You can unwind at the pool, communal lounge or on the patio, listening to the surrounding songs of birds overhead. Keep an eye out for a curious elephant or two who may want to join in on the fun.

As part of an agreement with SANParks, Rhino Post has access to 170 km of the park, in addition to the 29,652-acre concession that the lodge is situated in.

At night, the knowledgeable guides take guests into the Kruger National Park, after it has closed to day visitors. Visitors get to enjoy a few hours in an open game vehicle with the stars overhead, searching for nocturnal creatures in the bush.

When you return to camp, spend the rest of the evening watching bush TV (an open fire) and then enjoy a bush-braai meal before settling down for the night int he luxurious lodge.

Rhino Post Safari Lodge offers a bush escape which will revitalise the weary and help the most stressed person unwind in nature.
